Gartner: Top Ten Tech Trends for 2015

At the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo Africa 2014 in Cape Town that occurred from September 12-14th, Gartner (a world leading information technology research and advisory company) highlighted what they believe are the top ten technology trends that would be strategic for most organizations in 2015.

The Gartner Symposium/ITxpo is said to be the world’s most important gathering of CIOs and senior IT executives.

The trends for 2015 included:

  1. The merging of the real and virtual worlds
  2. The internet of things
  3. 3D printing
  4. Advanced analytics
  5. Context-rich systems
  6. Smart machines
  7. Cloud/client architecture
  8. Risk-based security and self-protection
  9. Web-scale IT
  10. Software-defined infrastructure and applications .
